cnn… and the rest of the world…
by ratman on Mar.11, 2008, under things
i have cnn send me text updates. sometimes it’s good to know whats going on. don’t know that i enjoy the folks on the channel. especially their way of inciting conversation with people that they talk to. but that’s for another post. here is the fun from tonight.
breakingnews@mail.cnn.com 7:07PM CST
– Barack Obama wins the Mississippi Democratic primary, CNN projects.
breakingnews@mail.cnn.com 7:17PM CST
– Correction: Exit polls show Obama leading Clinton in Mississippi. CNN has not projected this race.
breakingnews@mail.cnn.com 7:42PM CST
– CNN projects that Sen. Barack Obama will win the Mississippi Democratic primary.
guess now it’s official.
and while i’m at it, dear loudobbs… mellow out. you beat up on all kinds of things that make some of us sick. and i tried, in vein, to determine what skill set you have that makes you any smarter or more knowledgeable than any one else, and haven’t been able to come up with any conclusions as to that either. you, cafferty, that nut case glen beck and others are in the same general category as, say, the rush man.
will it ever end…
by ratman on Mar.09, 2008, under things
doubt it. clinton will beat up on obama. then obama will beat up on clinton. why couldn’t they stay above the fray. i don’t want to hear what people can’t do, but rather, what they can. i know obama is a freshman, and that’s exactly why i will vote for him. we need a fresh perspective in government. i would vote for an obama/clinton ticket, but i’m not sure that i would vote for the opposite. maybe, however, that would give obama a leg up on running in the future, but it would also lend credence to the old school politics until then. honestly, not sure what i will do if clinton wins. haven’t figured that out yet. bummer.
long week of training last week. new tools to make us better. pretty good software, once we adapt to it. funny how things to make our life easier always need to be adapted to. windows is like that. you want it to do stuff, yet more often than not, it’s you that adapt to it. going off ac to focus on the software that we were trained on. guess the idea of training is starting to hit home. it is one of the areas that we as a company don’t do as well as we could, so maybe i’ll finally break down that barrier. certainly working on it. sorry jp. really i am.
i haven’t commented on it in a while, but i love my voyager phone. wish i loved verizon wireless. the phone does everything i want it to do. the service has moments where i just wish that i didn’t have it. again. we adapt, they don’t.
clinton…
by ratman on Mar.06, 2008, under things
she ran in fl. without anyone else on the ticket, and now thinks that they should just be seated? no real campaign? and mi. should do it again? wait. who broke the rules? so. if the dnc does let this ride, i would be hard pressed not to vote for jm. you can’t just change a set of rules. what does this say about the process? doesn’t it make the process just a joke?
where is vin diesel?
i am 10 days from being 50. not that it matters, but man, am i old.
bed. have to go to bed. have to get up. have to go to work. have to… oh no… it’s started… what do i have to do???
first day… new gig…
by ratman on Feb.11, 2008, under things, work
ok. well. i have a new gig at work. it is working on a project that has been years in the making. kind of like how the earth was created. throw some stuff against a core, and see how things turn out. so far. well, lets just say, same old thing – different cover. honestly my stomach was in knots going in this morning. i didn’t want to be on it. i have watched it morph from too many things and just feel that it’s a never ending slide into, since i started on a planet thing here, a black hole. that’s not to say that it can’t be something, but, well, i’m not holding my breath. and it started weird as well. like my introduction on the ‘agenda’ was listed under ‘issues’. issue? some of them don’t even know me yet! then there was the proverbial ‘who did you piss off’ questions. i sure wish i knew. oh well. on the good side, it is a job. diane l. no hard feelings. you’re still part of the ‘t’ party. always will be!
hey ted. you must keep in touch. use the ‘forgot me’ link on the right to give me your address. abul. dodin’t know you well, but i know from others, you will be missed.
believe it or not, i already miss working on sap chit. holy cow…
i had to move out of the frat house. no more hanging with jon, brian, dave and diane. my feet work so they will be able to call me rick 3.
past that. i worked on updating a site and walked a friend of my wife’s system after he was hijacked and it was making him old and crazy. hopefully we fixed it. he’s trying it now, and i am soon headed to sleep world.
seriously long drive in the snow, yet again. rear wheel drive. good sometimes. bad sometimes.
ok. more on the dilemma as it is warranted.
 till then… peace…
why am i always behind…
by ratman on Jan.27, 2008, under family, friends, things
it’s a pain in the a$$. i am always behind on stuff. it’s always my own fault. i start out with the best of intentions. i even use my calendar and tasks to try to keep things straight. then something happens or someone asks for something, and it takes me completely out of my game. why? because my ability to structure my time sucks. and i never say no.
maybe it’s because i like the challenge that it brings. maybe i need the break from the norm. whatever the reason, it does get really frustrating to me as well as others. to those of you that feel shunned, i am truly sorry. there is never enough time in the day to get all this stuff done.
anyone with ideas (short of just say no), please let me know!
obama had a sweeping win yesterday down south, but he needs to keep it up. my opinion of the clinton’s has diminished due to their attacks, and i can’t help thinking that they believe, deep down, that they are in trouble. obama has tried, somewhat unsuccessfully, to keep above the fray. i wish he would attempt that a little harder. has been one of the things that pulled me in his direction. as they say, sticks and stones…
way to go giants! beat those nasty packers. as a tru black and blue bears fan, that was a welcome moment in recent football history! yeah marty, was very cool!

been a week with the voyager…

and so far, it’s a pretty cool phone. it’s missing some stuff. on the web it doesn’t do flash. that stops me from some of the sites that i would go to. since i have played with a couple iPhones, the voyagers touch screen takes a little getting used to. but i am getting there. once i finally figured out the email thing, getting work email is a breeze. during the primary in nh, i used the tv to watch msnbc (only news channel available) and it was a very good experience. mostly, the best part is that it reduced my monthly cost, even with tv and vcast pak. that was the goal, and it reached it. so. my review so far would be a 7. still want flash. still need to try/figure out some things.
more later…
you have to love the news media…
by ratman on Jan.08, 2008, under things
i love the election season. i really do. i enjoy listening to the news media do their thing. for me, it’s like listening to a weather broadcast. they say it will be rainy. it ends up being sunny. same thing happened tonight. obama, my choice, was going to win, and seemingly win big. it was on every news outlet there was. for hours they said that mrs. clinton was gone. that she had lost her reign. that she was going to shake up her staff. that some of her staffers would loose their jobs. that she was going to skip states. that obama was going to be a clear winner of tonight’s primary.
how wrong could you be. how very wrong were the pollsters. how wrong were the insiders. mrs. clinton’s own staffers as well as obama’s.
it’s like the headline all those years ago… dewey defeats truman. and tonight, that history repeated itself.
maybe news media should take heed in the message that the democrats are delivering. change. change the way that you share things. change how you look at the news. no longer treat it as a show. your reason for existing is to offer the citizens of the world a clear, factual and unbiased presentation of the news. not your news, but the real news. the real information that we, as the people of the world, get it the right way, all the time. shorten your special shows to fill less time and report when you actually can report, rather than stir the emotions.
the one thing that we should have learned tonight, is that… it ain’t over, till the fat lady sings.
good week…
by ratman on Jan.06, 2008, under family, things
for obama. he is still my man. can hardly wait to vote for him.
replacement phone on the way. cheapen my phone bill by ditching a more expensive web plan with verizon. not really liking verizon much, but i guess better than the rest.
family is back together after the return of the kids on saturday. fighting. yelling. all back to normal.
bathroom is painted. blue/yellow. all put together, looks pretty good. best part? the wife did 90% of it. not me.
all i know. enjoy your day!
welcome to day one…
by ratman on Jan.01, 2008, under family, things
last night was a great night. partied till 2. no driving. i danced, but mostly in a 12 x 12 space. my wife was kind to me. mostly, she was able to strut her stuff, and i was able to be with her. she dances. i circle around like a moon. but we had a great time.
lots of snow here in illinois. am now getting the 08 stuff in order for the year. made lots of resolutions. will be able to keep about half of them, most likely. but will make a concerted effort.
kids stayed awake through midnight in arizona. mom called them when we got to the room.
watching the illini. 13 and a half underdogs. they win, would only be the forth rose bowl win for them ever. i think their chances are slim, but i’m from illinois. i always pull for illinois teams. just what you do here.
that’s about all i have to share for now. looking forward to 08.
