lately, i’ve taken to making dinner on saturday and sunday nights. i take myself to allrecipes.com and look for interesting things. why? lots of reasons, as it turns out.
cheaper. i’ve been tracking things. anal. but i wanted to see what exactly were the cost savings. seems like a lot. so far, i spend roughly $21 per dinner on food, for five folks, and i’ll guess a couple bucks on gas stove usage. we are then able to get maybe a lunch or 2 out of it as well, which heads on out to work.
enjoyable 1. i get to hang out in the kitchen and watch whatever the better half is watching, or have her sit at the table and visit. makes it more fun.
enjoyable 2. so far, i haven’t done anything that the family hasn’t enjoyed. the enjoyment is at different levels, and i believe that my affliction to seafood is still a problem, so i am a little shy of those items for now, but generally, no real complaints.
different things. here’s the list so far:
my favorite? shepherds pie. it was yummy!
anyway. so far, it’s a success. sure. i am waiting for something to not go well, and have to make pb&j as a replacement. but it’s still worth the work.
next steps? making stuff that can be cooked during the week from frozen.
till then… peace…
